Cancer can spread from mother to baby

The baby in the mother’s stomach cancer to the “spread-turn” as possible whether the scientists had their minds occupied a century.

. In theory, cancer cells, even though they managed to cross the placenta, the baby’s immune system was thought to prevent the spread of the disease.  However, the mother and baby to the same cancer (usually leukemia, and melanoma) are the cases that they have.  Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences new research published in the journal, both on the child with leukemia who was a Japanese woman.  28-year-old woman shortly after birth than are diagnosed with leukemia, cancer of the baby was 11 months after the same has been agreed. Baby’s blood cells in the genetic testing, cancer cells were found to come naturally.  Researchers, the source of leukemia cells in the baby’s mother to determine whether a genetic fingerprinting technique to advanced.  As a result, both the patient’s leukemia cells, they carry the mutated genes were identified as cancer.

Besides this, children have inherited this gene from the mother did not receive, so this kind of leukemia, without any external factors can not be captured were identified.  After that scientists, the baby’s immune system of cancer cells could be investigated how they were neutralized. Scientists, cancer cells, themselves, given their key role in specific molecular identity of the DNA to determine that they are not. Without this molecular signal, the baby’s immune system does not detect cancer cells as foreign cells and were found not to act to repel them.

President of  Cancer Research Center, who is Professor. Mel Greaves said that,  “This is a long time to have solved the puzzle the puzzle are very pleased. We would like to emphasize however that pass from mother to baby are very rare cancer,”
